When I was a little girl my grandmother would have a Sunday dinner every week. It usually consisted of a meat, potato, stuffing and a vegetable but every once in a while she would make spaghetti. I so loved her sauce and was constantly asking what kind she used so I could get my mom to use it too. She would never say though but instead asked if I’d like to participate in making it. Uhh.. Yes! I was so excited to finally get to be “in” on the secret. Who knew it would be so simple though!
This sweet and savory sauce is so full of flavor you just need to have it in your recipe arsenal. You’re going to love the simplicity of it as well. I’ll walk you through it. 🙂
First, you want to get your ingredients together. You’ll need a pound of ground beef (I use lean), a jar of your favorite spaghetti sauce, a small can of tomato paste, a small can of tomato sauce, a tablespoon of minced onion, salt, pepper and the secret weapon! 2 tablespoons of brown sugar!
Now, you’ll want to brown your ground beef in a semi-deep skillet, seasoning it with Salt, Pepper and the Minced Onion. When browned, drain grease and add all other ingredients. Bring to a slight boil; reduce to low and cover. It’s at this point you’ll want to start your spaghetti noodles or whatever you choose to have with your sauce. I recommend a linguine noodle.
You can serve with a side salad and garlic bread.
