There’s had always been one question that drives me a little crazy. Only because I didn’t know the answer…
Mom, What’s for dinner?
I used to hate trying to figure out what to have for dinner everyday and god forbid you ask for some ideas. After work, I would call my husband from the grocery store hoping for a little bit of inspiration and all I’d get is, I don’t know, what do you want to have?
I needed to get organized..
A friend of mine told me she had meals planned for the entire year.
I know my mouth fell open before I asked, for the YEAR!?!?
And just like that, my view changed. I had to get it together for a lot of reasons, sanity being one. 😉
- Saving Money
- Saving Time
- A Better variety of Foods
These are a few more.
Meal planning doesn’t have to be so daunting in fact, it’s actually really fun!
Where to start?
I like to grab a weekly circular from our local grocery store to see what kind of meats are on sale and plan around that.
We all have a little arsenal of our favorite recipes to pull from but I encourage you to try something new at least 3 times a week. Here are a few of my favorites!
- Cajun Chicken Fettuccine
- Slow Cooker London Broil
- Slow Cooker Smothered Pork Chops
- Honey Garlic Pork Chops
- Chicago Chicken Kabobs
There’s no need to run out and grab a new cookbook when I’m certain you’ve got the largest one in the world at your fingertips. 😉 (If you’re set on a cookbook, I recommend this one!)
I looove Pinterest. Most of my inspiration comes from there.
I’ll find a recipe that I think my family will like and tweak it and turn it into a recipe I know my family will love! You can see some of my favorites below. 🙂
I always start with a search for either Slow Cooker Meals or 30 Minute Meals. You’d be surprised the variety of meals you’re able to come up with.
Once I’ve found some great recipes, I mark them on my Meal Planner Printable and check to see what I already have in the pantry with my Inventory Sheet. Now, we just have to make a list for the difference.
